-Veer Savarkar
When the famed revolutionary patriot Vinayak Damodar Savarkar visited Bangalore in 1942, he stayed in a residence alongside a silk factory, owned by Narayana Rao G Nayak. Ever since, Narayana Rao had an ardent desire that the place should be the hub of social service. His altruistic desire was fulfilled when Rashtrotthana Parishat purchased his land. While Keshav Shilpa with its building and auditorium was completed in the year 1983, the Seva Soudha completed in 2004 is now a prominent centre for social welfare activities in keeping with the lofty ideals of the man who once stayed there.
Inception and Vision
Rashtrotthana Parishat started off in a rented building at South End Road in Bangalore in 1965. Now, it has turned out to be one of the leading social service organizations in the state.
When the Parishat took on its task of social welfare, it was keen on retaining the essence of indigenous culture rather than grafting of alien ideologies and blind imitation of western methods. While it is true that situation at the ground level was depressing, the Parishat made it a point that social welfare should be done in keeping with nationalist ethos.
Worshipping Social Gods
The welfare activities of the Parishat have touched several hearts in its journey of transforming and enriching society.
In more than 40 years of service, the Parishat has touched all the segments of the society from the underprivileged to the most influential. Intellectuals, activists, resource persons, writers, orators, technocrats and many others have participated in this Yajnic fire of social service. With ideals at heart and ground realities in mind, the Parishat is determined to transform society with a spirit of unity.
The onus of transforming and creating a positive society rests not only with us. You are also an equal partner in this transformation. Your cooperation in every sphere is sought whether it is through labour of love or assistance in any other form.
Overall, we request you to be with us in this noble task of enlightening and creating a positive society.
