The body-mind harmony is much sought-after. Rashtrotthana Parishat has been engaged in the task of physical education since the decade of 70s. The Rashtrotthana Yogic Sciences & Research Institute formerly known as Rashtrotthana Shareerika Shiksha Kendra at Jayanagar in Bangalore has grown to be a hub of a centre, providing scientific and yogic treatment for ailments of body and mind.

Along with imparting yogic training, treatment, bodybuilding and karate, there are lecture series on physical fitness and other activities related to personality development. This Center is popular with all class of people – young, old and children.
Classes are also conducted at the main office in Rashtrotthana Parishat. The Centre also has a library with over 4,000 books on yoga, health and personality development.
Normally, two month courses are held in the center. Those coming to the yoga training can be classified into initial students, senior students, senior trainees and trainers. Several distinguished yoga exponents from across the country have lectured here.
The Centre also organized programmes during Rakshabandhana and Rathasapthami. The students here also go for trekking every year.
The inspiration behind Rashtrotthana Shareerika Shikshana Kendra is the Late Ajit Kumar –the indefatigable social worker who was an expert in yoga himself. The building at Jayanagar has been named ‘Ajita Smriti’ in his memory. The Centre has helped promote yoga as a way to build willpower through physical and mental excellence.
Yogic treatment is also imparted by doctors. Yogic postures are suggested for the treatment of various diseases from diabetic, blood pressure, headaches, backaches to joint pain.
The Centre has trained more than 35,000 persons and continues to train more as fitness and well-being are the real ingredients of a successful person. The training is imparted during morning, afternoon and evening. Many women participate in these sessions. Several of them have reported to have benefited a great deal after attending the courses.
The Centre is well equipped in its accessories for exercises. Even members of Indian cricket team have received training here.
The noted Yoga exponent B K S Iyengar has visited the Yoga Centre and has appreciated the activity.
In the days to come, it plans to open, well equipped centers to bring out allround development – physical, mental, intellectual, emotional and spiritual in various parts of the state in addition to Bangalore in keeping with the objectives.
