For the last 6 decades the numbers of indigenous cow species have been reduced considerably, in our country. At this rate it is possible that the same will be completely extinct in two decades. For thousands of years, this indigenous cow species had been able to take this country economically and culturally, to the peak. From the research carried out and that is being conducted, it has been proved that the indigenous cow species are useful to the people in several ways. With this background, Rashtrotthana Parishat has decided to involve itself in the protection and development of indigenous cow species and has started the Rashtrotthana indigenous cow species protection and development center.

The center -Madhava Srusti has been started in a premise of 30 acres of land near Sri Ghati Subramanaya, about 60 Kms from Bengaluru City. At present 150 indigenous cows has been accommodated. Indigenous species of cows like Hallikaru, Devani, Malenadu gidda, concierge variety cow and oxen have been accommodated and efforts are being made to develop these species. Rashtrotthana Parishat, through this centre has chalked out to create awareness in society by planning several programmes. Shortly it has planned to start activities like indigenous cow products generation centre, training to farmers, organic farming, indigenous ways of treating sick cows etc.,
