Blood Bank

With increasing road mishaps and emergency situations, there is a need for immediate provision of blood in order to save lives.  With a view to providing immediate blood to those affected, the blood bank was set up in the year 1993.

The Rashtrotthana Blood Bank has a capacity of 500 blood sachets.  Besides, there are facilities to separate the whole blood into platelets, red blood corpucles and plasma.  It almost amounts to saving three lives with a single donor’s blood!

Smt. Subadhraben Jayantilal Nagardas Shah (Jain) initially lent financial assistance to this blood bank.

The National AIDS Control Organisation has recognized this blood bank.  The blood bank has also facilities for testing blood for diseases like AIDS, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Syphilis.

Besides, this is a 24 hour service unit and people are often seen in queues to avail the much-needed blood.  The Bank also has a state-of-the-art storage facility for efficient preservation.  The Blood Bank has also been awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certificate in month of December 2006 considering the quality and transparency in its operations.

It also has a license from the Karnataka State Drugs Control Department.  (License No. KTK/28C/61/97.)

Our aim is to ensure that those who come for blood should never go empty-handed.  In case financial assistance from donor is forthcoming, we desire to expand our service network.
