Bengaluru: Mathematics plays a vital role in every aspect of our life. Whether it is time, cooking, clothing, trading, travelling, architecture or even medicine, we are surrounded by numbers and calculations.
In this backdrop, Ganitha Sapthaha – Math Fest was observed in JGRV, Kalyannagar from Dec 15 – 22, the motto of which was to let our children learn and understand the vast dimension of mathematics in an entertaining and fun way. It was a tribute to the great Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Children from classes I to X actively participated in the week-long fest and thoroughly enjoyed learning maths in various ways.
Dec 15: Students of class 9 interviewed the students of class 10 based on the topics of Application of Mathematics in Defence sector, Engineering and Technology, Medical science and Astronomy. Students participated with enthusiasm and received appreciation from all.
Dec 16: Children watched an informative and interesting documentary film ‘The Vedic Geometry’ which covered concepts like ‘Kalpa’ the code of Yagnam, ‘Jyothishya’ the science behind Astrology, ‘Shilpa Shastra’, the art of building temples and monuments, and ‘Sri Vidya’, the Yantram. Children felt proud about the ancient Indian mathematical Knowledge.
Dec 17: The third day of the fest was entirely for the younger children from class I -V. Children from class I and II enjoyed learning maths by reciting rhymes on concepts of numbers and shapes. Students of III to V showed many mathematical tricks through demonstration and skit.
Dec 18: The fourth day of the fest was very interesting as children of class VI, VII, IX and X watched the movie ‘The man who knew Infinity’, which was based on the life and works of Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Dec 19: Students of class VIII organised a math fair where stalls were kept and children sold handmade paintings, jewellery and craft items. It was a hands-on experience in trading, profit and loss. Students from other classes and teachers enjoyed shopping items on the display. There were stalls of quiz, puzzles and memory tests relating to mathematical concepts.
Dec 20: A PowerPoint presentation on uses of mathematics in our daily life was shown to students by Smt. Priyanka mataji. She highlighted how maths is used in fields as diverse as music to architecture, cooking to rocket science. It was a wonderful learning experience for children.
Dec 21: Ancient India has made immense contributions to the field of mathematics. The concept of zero and decimal systems was first given by Ancient Indian Mathematicians. Children were shown a PowerPoint Presentation by Smt. Vidya K.S. mataji on ancient Indian mathematicians like Apastamba, Aryabhata, Bhaskara I & II and Brahmagupta.
Kum. Medha, Chi. Aditya and Chi. Dhanush of class 10 conducted a ‘Picture quiz’ based on mathematical concepts in which children took part with enthusiasm.
Dec 22 marks the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan and it was celebrated with great fervour and joy. It also marked the Samaropa Diwas of the week-long math fest.
Sri Sanjay ji and Sri Ravi Kiran ji, who are training our 10th class children for NTSE, Sadhana and Tapas, and Pradhanacharya Smt. Gayatri Kulkarni mataji graced the occasion.
Children presented stage programs like dance, puzzles, PowerPoint Presentation on the life and works of Srinivasa Ramanujan. A quiz was conducted at the end, summarising everything learnt during the Sapthaha.
Sri Sanjay ji gave the guest speech and spoke about life skills, in mathematical terms. He said children should identify the negative qualities present in oneself and convert it to positive traits. In this way one can balance the equation of life.
Sri. Ravi Kiran ji congratulated the children for their efforts. He said, one should follow the footsteps of our ancestors to be successful in life.
The math fest culminated on the note that “Mathematics gives us hope that every problem has a solution”.
ಗಣಿತ ಸಪ್ತಾಹ (ಗಣಿತ ಹಬ್ಬ) ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ರಾಮಾನುಜನ್ ಜಯಂತಿ ಜೆ.ಜಿ.ಆರ್.ವಿ. – ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ್ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ಗಣಿತವು ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಘಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲೂ ಬಹುಮುಖ್ಯ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಮಯ, ಅಡುಗೆ, ಬಟ್ಟೆ, ಪ್ರಯಾಣ, ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳೂ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಮತ್ತು ಲೆಕ್ಕಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿವೆ.
ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮನರಂಜನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಖುಷಿಯ ಜೊತೆ ಗಣಿತದ ವಿವಿಧ ಆಯಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಗಣಿತ ಸಪ್ತಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಗಣಿತ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಜೆ.ಜಿ.ಆರ್.ವಿ. ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ್ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೊಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 15 ರಿಂದ 22ರ ವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಇದೊಂದು ಭಾರತದ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಗಣಿತಜ್ಞ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್ ರಾಮಾನುಜನ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿತ್ತು. 1 ರಿಂದ 10ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ ಗಣಿತದ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳ ಪರಿಚಯವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು.
ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 15: ಒಂಭತ್ತನೆಯ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಹತ್ತನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂದರ್ಶಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣಿತದ ಪಾತ್ರ, ಎಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕತೆ, ವೈದ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷ್ಯಗಳ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಚರ್ಚಿಸಿದರು.ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅತಿ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು.
ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 16: ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮಾಹಿತಿಪೂರ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ಕುತೂಹಲಭರಿತವಾದ ‘ವೇದ ರೇಖಾ ಗಣಿತ’ ಎಂಬ ಡಾಕ್ಯೂಮೆಂಟರಿ ಫಿಲ್ಮನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಜ್ಞಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಕಲ್ಪ, ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷ್ಯ, ಶಿಲ್ಪಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, ಯಂತ್ರಗಳ, ಶ್ರೀವಿದ್ಯೆ ಮೊದಲಾದ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಪುರಾತನ ಕಾಲದ ಗಣಿತ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 17: ಮೂರನೇ ದಿನದ ಹಬ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ 1 ರಿಂದ 5 ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. 1 ಮತ್ತು 2 ತರಗತಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಗಣಿತದ ಚುಟುಕು ಪದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿತು ಖುಷಿ ಪಟ್ಟರು. 3 ರಿಂದ 5 ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಗಣಿತದ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ತಂತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿತುಕೊಂಡರು.
ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 18: ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ದಿನದ ಹಬ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ 6, 7, 9 ಮತ್ತು 10ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್ ರಾಮಾನುಜನ್-ರ ಬದುಕಿನ ಚಿತ್ರಣವಾದ ‘ದಿ ಮ್ಯಾನ್ ಹೂ ನ್ಯೂ ಇನ್ಫಿನಿಟಿ’ ಎಂಬ ಕಿರುಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು.
ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 19: 8ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ತಾವೇ ತಯಾರಿಸಿದ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು, ಆಭರಣಗಳು, ಕರಕುಶಲ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಆ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಿ ಖುಷಿಪಟ್ಟರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ರಸಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ, ಜ್ಞಾಪಕ ಶಕ್ತಿಯ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ವಿಷಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಟಾಲ್-ಗಳನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 20: ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರಿಯಾಂಕಾ ಮಾತಾಜಿಯವರು ನಿತ್ಯ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣಿತ ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಸಂಗೀತ, ರಾಕೆಟ್ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ವಿವಿಧ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣಿತದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.
ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 21: ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಭಾರತ ಗಣಿತಕ್ಕೆ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿತ್ತು. ಸೊನ್ನೆ ಮತ್ತು ದಶಮಾನ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳು ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಭಾರತೀಯರ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳಾಗಿವೆ. ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾ ಕೆ. ಎಸ್ ಮಾತಾಜಿಯವರು ಆಪಸ್ತಂಭ, ಆರ್ಯಭಟ, ಭಾಸ್ಕರ, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಗುಪ್ತರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಮೇಧಾ, ಆದಿತ್ಯ, ಧನುಷ್ ಎಂಬ ಹತ್ತನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ‘ಚಿತ್ರ ರಸಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ’ ಎಂಬ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 22: ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್ ರಾಮಾನುಜನ್ ಅವರ ಜನ್ಮದಿನವಾದ ಈ ದಿನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಸಮಾರೋಪವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಶ್ರೀ ಸಂಜಯ್ ಜೀ, ಶ್ರೀ ರವಿಕಿರಣ್ ಜೀ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಗಾಯತ್ರಿ ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ ಮಾತಾಜಿಯವರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ನೃತ್ಯ, ವಸ್ತು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ, ರಸಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಮುಂತಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು.
ಅಥಿತಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸಂಜಯ್ ಜೀಯವರು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮ ಭವಿಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಶ್ರೀ ರವಿಕಿರಣ್ ಜೀ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಿದರು.
ಗಣಿತ ಹಬ್ಬ ನಮಗೆ ‘ಗಣಿತ ನಮ್ಮ ಬದುಕಿಗೆ ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೂ ಪರಿಹಾರವಿದೆ’ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು.
