“When you educate a girl, you educate a nation”, is a popular axiom that the entire Bharat is aware of. Girl child and women education is the hallmark of a nation’s progress. Empowering the girl child is a catalyst for the country’s development. Unlike in the ancient times women are not just the strength and pillar of a home. She should be an asset and precious resource of the nation. Equality of opportunity in the areas of education and employment should be a fundamental right of girl child. Girls should have fair play in various areas of the nation’s growth such as Politics and administration, sports, business, science and technology etc. Imparting these facilities to women and encouraging them in the right direction is the primary responsibility of the government and fellow citizens.
With this framework, National Girl Child day is observed on January 24. The Ministry of Women and Child Development has been celebrating National Girl Child since 2008.
Objectives of the National Girl Child Day:
Creating awareness on the importance of girl child education.
Awareness campaigns on girl child’s health and nutrition.
Measures to eradicate female foeticide and infant mortality.
Creating awareness among women and girls about constitutional rights and provisions against sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Creating awareness about government policies for women and girl child empowerment and other constitutional privileges.
Saadhana – A Radiance in the life of girl child
Rashtrotthana Parishat is relentlessly working towards revitalising a robust and strong society with nationalistic goals. To achieve the vision of progressive and inclusive India, girls’ education is the apex objective. The organisation, realising this vital role of girls’ education, initiated one of its most ambitious projects ‘Saadhana’ in the year 2017. Girls’ education is the key to eradicate social evils of the society and it is the true sign of women empowerment. As the nation observes National Girl Child Day we would like to recall the micro contribution of Rashtrotthana Parishat which is making mammoth differences in society.
‘Saadhana’ initiative aims to provide free medical entrance examination coaching corresponding to free PUC education with free accommodation and other necessary amenities to the talented and meritorious girls who hail from rural areas and marginalised communities. ‘Saadhana’ also comprises ‘Saadhana Education’ initiative that provides free teacher training to the students.
Girls who are educated under the shelter of ‘Saadhana’ are pursuing their higher education in the prestigious medical colleges of the state and country and are marching towards building a resilient and healthy Bharat.

Girl child and women empowerment is an integral part of constructing India to its fullest potential. In this regard, it is the duty of every Indian to focus on and work towards girl child and womens’ physical and mental health, education, liberty and rights along with the bureaucracy. Every girl child who is marginalised and is confined behind the four walls of the house has to be brought to mainstream. ‘ಹೆಣ್ಣೊಂದು ಕಲಿತರೆ, ಶಾಲೆಯೊಂದು ತೆರೆದಂತೆ’
ಈ ಮಾತು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವ ಸುಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ನುಡಿ. ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ದ್ಯೋತಕ. ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಸಬಲೀಕರಣ ಸಮಸ್ತ ದೇಶದ ಏಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಧಾರ ಸ್ತಂಭ. ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಾದರೆ ಸಾಲದು. ಆಕೆ, ದೇಶದ ಅತ್ಯಮೂಲ್ಯ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲವಾಗಬೇಕು. ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ, ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಮುಂತಾದೆಡೆ ಸಮಾನ ಅವಕಾಶ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಗುವಿನ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಹಕ್ಕಾಗಬೇಕು. ರಾಜಕೀಯ, ಕ್ರೀಡೆ, ಉದ್ಯಮ, ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಹೀಗೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದ ವಿವಿಧ ಮಜಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನ ಅವಕಾಶ ದೊರೆಯಬೇಕು. ಆಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸುಭದ್ರ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಸಾಧ್ಯ. ಇವೆಲ್ಲ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜದ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯಾಗಬೇಕು.
ಇದೇ ಧ್ಯೇಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ 2008ರಿಂದ ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಮತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಇಲಾಖೆಯು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಜನವರಿ 24ರಂದು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ದಿನದ ಗುರಿ:
ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಮಹತ್ತ್ವದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು.
ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಪೌಷ್ಠಿಕಾಂಶದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ.
ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಭ್ರೂಣಹತ್ಯೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಶಿಶುಹತ್ಯೆ ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟಲು ಯೋಜನೆ ರೂಪಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಜಾಗೃತಿ.
ಲೈಂಗಿಕ ಕಿರಿಕುಳ ಮತ್ತು ಕೌಟುಂಬಿಕ ಹಿಂಸೆಯ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ.
ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಯೋಜನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾನೂನಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸವಲತ್ತುಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು.
ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ದೀವಟಿಗೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನದ ‘ಸಾಧನಾ’
ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಸಬಲೀಕರಣ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಧ್ಯೇಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ‘ಸಾಧನಾ’ ಪ್ರಕಲ್ಪವು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ ಪರಿಷತ್ತಿನ ಮಹತ್ತ್ವದ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ. ದೇಶದ ಸರ್ವತೋಮುಖ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಸಮಾನ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯ ಮಹತ್ತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅರಿತ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯು 2017ರಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಸಾಧನಾ’ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿತು. ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಯು ಹಿಂದುಳಿದ ಮತ್ತು ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅರಳಿದ ಆಶಾಕಿರಣ. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ದಿನವಾದ ಇಂದು ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಉತ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ ಪರಿಷತ್ತಿನ ಈ ಸಣ್ಣ ಸೇವೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸ್ಮರಿಸಲು ಇಚ್ಛಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.
ಅರ್ಹ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಉಚಿತ ವಸತಿ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉಚಿತ ಪದವಿಪೂರ್ವ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತರಬೇತಿ ಮತ್ತು ‘ಸಾಧಾನ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ’ ಎಂಬ ಉಚಿತ (teacher training) ತರಬೇತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
‘ಸಾಧನಾ’ದ ಸೂರಿನಡಿ ತರಬೇತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ದೇಶದ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಸದೃಢ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕರ ಭಾರತ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದ ಕನಸಿನ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಪುಗಾಲಿಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
