Munganahalli, Chikkaballapur

Munganahalli Village is a tiny hamlet in Chinthamani taluk, Chikkaballapura district and about 110 KMs from Bangalore. The region is dry and arid. Consisting mostly of farming communities who depend on rain and groundwater where both of them have become scarce progressively. This has resulted in communities living below the poverty line.
This region does not have good connectivity though Bangalore is near. People depend on far off places for their primary health care and expensive private medical care.
This has resulted in people who are not able to escape the realities of the environment. Good education and skills gives them more opportunities to enhance their lives, the lives of their family and community.
Pathi Adinaranaiah Ramalakshmamma Vidyalaya, named after the family who generously donated the land and the seed money, started with humble beginnings in 1991 has given quality education for the children in and around Munganahalli.
The school has more than 540 children studying and the infrastructure has been improved over the time.
Achievements

Majority of children who enroll in 8th std Kannada Medium join with poor academic background. Our High School teachers, through their concerted efforts, manage to update their learning so that they pass SSLC examination. Our High School has got the reputation as the best High School in the area.
With sporadic availability of electricity students are not able to study at home without lights. We have installed solar based renewable energy (electricity) in classes which help students under supervision to do self study with stable lighting.
Unproductive time is spent by a lot of students commuting to school from their nearby villages with poor connectivity. For these students we provided boarding and lodging for two months before the 10th final exams. This gives the students time to study, bond, assist each other and develop bonding. This is possible with generous donors..
With ideas like above and more along with dedicated teachers and committed management we are able to achieve excellent academic results. Thus we have been considered a school of choice in the area. We are able to achieve 80% pass rate, sometimes going as high as 90%.
Contribution
Being in rural areas it is a challenge to compete with urban areas for qualified teachers. This is achieved by offering competing benefits with generous contributions from society.
We provide free education to about 25% of the students.
