Tapas
Tapas, initiated in 2012, is a free residential 2-years education program that aims to enable meritorious boys from socially and economically backward classes to avail education from IIT JEE. The students are selected through a multi-level selection process. Students hailing from families whose annual income does not exceed 2 lakhs, and currently studying in class 10 are eligible applicants for this project every year.
The level-1 and level-2 entrance exams take place on 25th of December and 26th January every year at 54 different centres across Karnataka State. Level-3 is verification of income through house visits and level-4 is the final residential selection camp at Bengaluru. Around 40 students are selected as eligible recipients of the benefits of the project. The selected students are provided free accommodation, food, tuition, study materials & training for a span of two years to complete XII std & qualify in IIT-JEE.
Academic support is provided by the prestigious BASE Institute. The students undergo a complete transformation in the 2 years that enables them to successfully tackle the very tough IIT-JEE entrance exams and compete against lakhs of well prepared and privileged students from all over India and emerge successful & join IITs/ NITs.
