Bengaluru, Jan 2-9: As a tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan, JGRV Kalyan Nagar conducted Ganita Saptaha.
To gain knowledge about the uses of mathematics in different fields, this year we have the theme “Application of Mathematics in Different Fields”.
Day 1 (Jan 2):
The first day of saptaha, begain with Deepa Prajwalane and pushparchane to the portrait of Srinivasa Ramanujan. Kum. Tejaswini of Class 10 gave a brief introduction about Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Students of class 3 performed a skit in the Auditorium, to show how mathematics is important in our daily life, which was mainly focused on basic mathematical operators. Pre-KG students recited number rhymes.
Day 2 (Jan 3):
Students of class IX displayed a Power Point Presentation and played a video on the topic Mathematical Concepts used in Ancient Temple Architecture:
- Brihadeshwara Temple – by Rishika and Vasumati
- Hampi Virupaksha Temple – by Ruchitha
Day 3 (Jan 4):
The students of class IV, VIII and IX explained the following topics through Power Point Presentation:
- Mathematical Concepts used in Ancient Temple Architecture: Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple by Kum. Bhavani of class IX.
- Mathematical concept used in Computer Network – by Kum. Lavanya and Chi. Sanketh of class VIII
- Application of Mathematics in Medicine – by Kum. Manisha of class IV B and a video was shown about the same.
- UKG students presented Multiplication table of 2 using flash cards.
Day 4 (Jan 5):
Students of class 5 and 6 explained how mathematics is involved in games and sports
- ‘Football court’ was explained by Vignesh M
- ‘Basketball court’ was briefed by Sushil Kumar Bohora
- ‘Volleyball court’ was demonstrated by Sachin Yadav
- Students of class 5 conducted interesting games.
- Lakshmi Pragathi – game on addition, Aditi Dutta – twister, Tharun – guess the number.
It aroused interest among children to participate in the game. By this, students understood how important mathematics is to develop their mental ability. Students of class 1B recited a song on maths.
Day 5 (Jan 6)
The fifth day of Ganita Saptaha the Students of Class VII presented tricks to perform division using Vedic Math.
- Anuja and Pallavi K explained the division by single digit number.
- Pallavi V explained division by two digit numbers.
- Sudheeksha of class V demonstrated a trick which showed the easiest way of adding 3-digit numbers.
- Lavanya of class IX explained about the Mathematical concepts used in the construction of Konark Sun Temple, Odisha. The students of Class 1 displayed Basic Geometrical Shapes along with music.
Ganita Saptaha Valedictory:
On Jan 9th ‘Ganita Saptaha Valedictory’ began with lots of zeal and enthusiasm. Pradhanacharya, Smt. Gayatri Kulkarni mathaji graced the occasion. The entire program was emceed by Kum. Tejaswini of Class 10B. Kum. Rashmi of class X A welcomed the gathering. Kum. Lakshmi Narayani of class X B explained the application of mathematics in different fields of defence technology through a power point presentation.
Students of class 2 gave a brief description of how mathematics is used in Arts by using colourful pictures. Students of class 1 showed different angles and geometrical shapes through yoga postures. Kum. Chandrana and Kum. Pavithra explained the 2023-year calendar in terms of mathematical concepts and mesmerized the audience.
All the students took pledge to learn and understand mathematics throughout their life and apply it in each and every field. Chi. Charan of class 6 delivered vote of thanks.
